Yes...yet another chocoholic in the familyWe're talking addict here!To quote our Speech Therapist, Sophia: "Amelia turned two and read the manual that she was supposed to say NO to EVERYTHING." So true! Everything is no. Not just mindless shaking of the head...but actually saying "NO".
She is just doing so well. Well, she started with a cold at her birthday party on 1/26 and hasn't quite shaken it. Lots of nebulizer treatments, but no suctioning to speak of. Bulb syringing, yes...but no loud, obnoxious, attention seeking, Amelia screaming, suctioning. She is getting so good at handling whatever is thrown at her. It's a true sign of how strong she has become over the past 2 years.
Amelia's 2nd Birthday party was a real success and I think she had a lot of fun with all the cousins and friends. We had pizza (well...she didn't) and a doll cake and lots of cupcakes. We did songs, puppets and oversized books. It was a great weekend overall.
When we got back on Monday, Amelia was still sick...but we hit the ground running. On Friday we went to UCP and picked up her new Smartwalker. So cool! I'll take some pics and post them soon. She isn't really walking, but she's bearing weight -- which she does in her stander -- but there's ways of cheating in the stander which can't be done in the walker. We rolled her up to the coffee table and she'll hang out playing with a toy on it. Also, we put Amelia in the creepster today for about 30 minutes and she really loved it. She was moving forward a little bit, but mostly in circles. She was just so satisfied hanging out on all fours and playing with her toys. I am so impressed with that! It's a whole new world for her -- a new perspective.
So now the countdown begins. Nestor is leaving on Monday for LA for an undetermined amount of time. He's working on a stage project for 4 performances and then, hopefully, the strike will be settled and pilot season will be officially in full swing. He's going to hang out there and hopefully get out for some auditions and, if all goes according to plan, book some work! Oh, and for all the romantics out there, "Definitely, Maybe" the feature he shot last fall, is opening on Valentine's Day.
So, it's just me and the girl for awhile. My Mom is coming up from MD on Tuesday and we'll drive down on Friday and come back to NYC on the following Tuesday. It's just so hard to stay away too long because of all her therapies. But I don't have a nurse for Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays at this point, although our agency is working to find nurses to fill in those days Nestor is away. We'll see what happens.
